About Henrie Elementary

Henrie Elementary, the largest elementary school in Mesquite ISD, opened its doors in August 2015. The campus boasts 50 standard classrooms, in addition to an assortment of special use rooms, allowing for a maximum capacity of 1000 students. Favorite features include the learning courtyard, located between the classroom wings for exterior teaching spaces and a community walking trail.

Linda Henrie

Henrie Elementary School is named after Dr. Linda Henrie, who began her career with Mesquite ISD as a business teacher at Mesquite High School. Prior to assuming the role of Superintendent on July 1, 2005, Dr. Henrie served as deputy superintendent for four years and in other administrative positions for 15 years. She had been within the district for 43 years prior to retiring on August 31, 2015.

Dr. Henrie believes active involvement in professional activities improves a person’s vision and networking ability. She demonstrated this by being an active member in various organizations including Texas Association of School Administrators, Mesquite Education Association, and Texas ASCD where she served in various capacities including president for two years. Dr. Henrie served and chaired many district and community committees because of a strong belief in the value of partnerships with community leaders and parents. This included serving as the Chamber of Commerce Chairman in 1998.

Dr. Henrie and her husband, Mike, have two children and five very special grandchildren, Zachary, Abigail, Ella, Cara, Lucy and Kate.
